New Year’s Day is a time for us to reflect on the year gone by and to think about where we want to go in the year ahead. These contemplations apply to our personal goals and visions, and they also apply to the state of humanity as a whole. Where are we headed as a human species? How do we think about the state of the world, of culture, and of our highest aspirations for the future of humanity as we transition into the new year?
On January 1st, 2013, Andrew Cohen gave a live broadcast reflecting on the state of the planet and where he thinks we are headed as we move into the year 2013.

Much of what you say, Andrew, seems to evolve from Teilhard de Chardin’s most sensible intuition, that the earth was not created in 6 (or was it 5?) days, that it continues to evolve.and we are part of that evolution.
Now I have two comments, one personal:
Many decades ago, I formed the aspiration to train as a psychoanalyst (school undecided). Almost immediately, I was swamped by depression, overwhelmed by limitless pain (or so it seemed to me). I interpreted this as a message that I should clean up my own act before progressing on to such a training. Old thought forms and crystallized habits needed to be broken.
Fast forward, to the world situation today. With the knowledge that humanity has one vast soul, the evolutionary thrust that is apparent in the advances of science, psychology and education that you mention, has thrown into disarray opposing and individualised (nationalist included) mindsets which are evident in the present wars (old solutions die hard), and the desperate capitalism that threatens the our planet, and those who live in endless poverty. The old ways will struggle to the death to survive, and things get worse before we make them better.
Focusing on the answer , the expansion and personal and mass evolution has been my journey consciously for many years. Lately more quantum because I’ve let go of the religion I looked to for guidance , which is so based on fear and control. Like you’ve just said, I see that my progress and freedom has come alive so much more w/ the “new ” study of the now , my letting go of what I thought I needed .. Also letting go of the mass opinions , which to a lagre sense, is negative and fear based. I celebrate the courage of people like you who look forward and see the “good news”. The inner spiritual guidance I experience is why I have the comfort and standard of living I have today. Letting go of the past and going w/ the flow of love and kindness I can give and recieve . I see personally my healing as due to the positive focus on prayer , meditation and simple , caring life of divine , sacred . Coming from abuse and painful beginnings, I celebrate my freedom and growth and share this w/ others. Thank you , Jane
I loved this speach/broadchast – finally it is said that to be positive is the whole meaning of life, and not something unreal, and to realise cosmos as a whole – of course. We are made of what comes from cosmos and we live on a rotating planet in cosmos, actrually everything is cosmos, but we are not told in our educations or from our parents, normally, so everything becomes rather narrow and grounded in a strange way. Thank you for Evolutionary Enlightenment and for this not only beautifull but deadly seriously speach. (of course)
