thanks for that explanation, I had thought i probably did suffer from this, but not too much. After watching your video I can really see how completely self obssessed I am. pretty much every thought I have is in someway framed in this internal mirror. Really glad to have realised this now just to keep this new awareness awake.
Narcissus had is only image in the river.
Ours is in the eye of the others, so our image is not just a “self-reference”.
“A Bigger Process that might need something from you” and ITS “OBLIGATION” could need a complete change from us…
Fear of shattering that image, our social image, can cause our REFUSAL to take our very PERSONAL responsibility…
That is our Narcissism or Ego
Poor social victim of that terrible epidemic !
I’m not being puffed up, but I was raised by people from Arkansas who had come out of the Civil War. We were not even allowed to think about ourselves. Only to think about what others wanted or needed. My spiritual path has been to learn to take care of myself, to value myself enough to care for myself well enough—to survive really. I do agree with you as I was always amazed that many of my friends thought more this way.
