The Spiritual Impulse (Quote of the Week)
Why do some of us seek for higher truths? Why is it that certain individuals are driven blindly, madly, and passionately to transcend their own limitations? Why do we, at times, feel ourselves being compelled to improve ourselves, not only for our own sake but for the sake of a higher cause that we sense yet can barely see? Why is it that in those precious moments when we are most conscious and most awake, we seem to intuit a deeper sense of purpose that is infinitely bigger than our personal worlds could contain? What is that soft vibration that tugs on our hearts and beckons us to courageously leap beyond the small confines of the separate self so that we can participate in the life-process in a much deeper and more authentic way? That vibration is none other than the spiritual impulse, which is the impulse to evolve at the level of consciousness. And I believe it is that very same impulse that caused something to come from nothing fourteen billion years ago, that compelled an entire material universe to miraculously emerge from complete emptiness. To me, at least, it seems that there is no doubt that a great and mysterious energy and intelligence with enormous power is driving this entire evolutionary process forward in every moment. And our own direct personal experience of spiritual inspiration is the most tangible expression of that very same drive.

I got this ‘message’ in a vision, a long time ago. It took me a while to really get it – Yes, it seems the everything did come out of no-thing, but not a nothing like we tend to think of it.
“Once, there was nothing.
The nothingness transformed into One, for It was pure potentiality.
Though the Conscious Energy Field, imbued with a potent impetus to know itself, erupted out of its self. As the womb of the Source contracted, the violent fury of the ever exploding House of Eternity came into being. And then there were Two. For Its opposite polarity offered the means of self-definition.
One, in becoming Two became Third, simultaneously. By creating another Its-self it began creating all things therein. It created where it had been and what it’d seen.
By looking into itself the One saw the path to itself. It was strewn with creations within creations, worlds within worlds, interpenetrated by never-ending spirals of thought—dreams within dreams.
The ever-expanding One gained new knowledge through the experience of Its diverse creations but continually yearned to see The Self –The Creator. And so, The One created man in Its image.
The perpetual formula of creation had begun.
0, 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, 55, 89, 144 … And it knew no end, for the end was also the beginning.
Out of chaos came light.
Out of will came life.”

For the first time, Andrew I have no questions or doubts in what you say…
It makes so much sense…in the larger scheme of things this impulse, hopefully creates a better, non-violent universe!!
either people believe there is current or
people believe there is no current
knowing the current is religion
knowing the use of current is science
believing and not believing both are philosophies
science is the microscopic vision for atom
religion is the unified vision for at om
science is the logical left brain which is within the time non eternal represents body
religion is emotional right brain which is
beyond time represents soul
enlightenment is the union of the both
eternity is dancing on eternity like football
there are players of left brain known as worldly and there are players of right brain
known as spiritual but the different side of the same coin
enlightenment is referee who is the thin edge of the coin and to remain on the edge balance is
needed positive and negative are two complimentary side . zero is balance where duality is lost
to be a good referee one has to know both side
as player
scientist is the player of the matter and spiritual seeker is the player of no matter
referee is the journey and the destination
together
every human brings in the closed hands the possibility to become the referee till then
be good player and enjoy the game called
life
It looks to me arrogant to try to reduce the Infinite, the Inexpressible, the Absolute and the Ultimate to a mere impulse, even if labeled spiritual. Even more so to draw a line of differentiation between this “spiritual impulse” and “the complete emptiness” by inhibiting the supremacy of the spiritual impulse over the complete emptiness.
It is all mind games and attempts of the mind to label and explain the unexplainable.
Each and every human being on earth is born with this longing of the heart for the unknown, for this same “complete emptiness”, from where he/she has come and where he/she will go back one day. This emptiness is our eternal home, our real nature and as long as we are in this material world we will be longing for our home.

once zero,you are always zero even after

Wow. Yes, I have been contemplating the same energy all day and have shared with a friend the same principles and even the listened to Craig and Brian Swimme discuss the universe, then I opened your quote and wham again. Mysterious Universe we say. For that reason I also want to share my perspective from the northern Native people of this country.
This is just a small story. Camping one night under the bright stars, before bedtime, I threw down one last slug of liquid for the night. Oh. In the cup was “something” maybe a wood chip from the fire, maybe a bug, maybe even a coin in the bottom of my cup. So now, I feel a big something in my throat. I cannot lay down and must stay awake at least until this passes. we had no flashlights that night (we forgot them).
We looked to the sky. And received a great teaching. Out teacher(s) are there, resting and waiting for us, yes, known in all time, clearly teaching. Stars. Five. Five chances to see the teachings, always above us, waiting for us. I acknowledge this teaching, wrote about it (in a more subtle way) as not to give away the mystery everyone can explore.
My reason for this note is not to share my own experience, it is to ask the world a question.
Why do we not embrace the original teachers of this land – the land, akii (earth)? we are only visitors who have carried on our backs eastern philosophy, European thought in many ways, and every kind of hope possible. Maybe we need to totally connect to the Ancestors walking among us, the ones who hold the teachings for the land we walk on today.
I just feel that way. I hope to say, “enough is enough” without our common base. so, my feeling is first include Native teachings, 2nd ask for permission to speak here on this land, and then we share all.
Full circle teachings???
Ohhh, I like. This impulse appears to be gaining momemtum and as we approach a critical mass or tipping point, truths that have been hidden by shadows and fear will be revealed. You can almost feel the anticipation as we slowly move out of our heads and into the heart. It is a very exciting time to be alive!
The divine impulse perfectly describes the feeling that I have had for several years. This energy has been building up in me and beckoning me to go deeper and deeper to find my own truth. What I have learned from Andrews work is that if it is truly the divine impulse seeking expression through me then it is something that I must share with others to assist them in discovering their own truth. This confirms for me that it is not of the ego but of the spirit. There is an urgency in my soul to do my part in making the world a better place and it’s nice to have a forum of like minded people to learn from.

I wonder in what context your statement comes from? If I may submit, Buddhism is founded on the idea that we come from Nothing but that Nothing is not a negative void but a pregnant one from which All comes from and returns. I wonder if the cosmic soup from which all life originates is this Nothing. What do you think?

Perhaps we are playing around with words as we have no clue about what we are talking about, my understanding is that if something comes out of nothing, we cannot call it nothing, perhaps NO-THING may come close, relatively speaking, as the Absolute is formless, i think the dilemma of the the mind is that it wants to know the Absolute which is beyond the mind, intellect & reason, how can the finite or the limited mind understand the infinite ? i think thats the dilemma the mind faces
There’s no right or wrong here, just different perspectives.
Frank’s idea of a “pregnant nothingness” kind of sums the beginning nicely for me.
The points Ram brings to attention are just as valid; they continue the story.
The knower wants to be known & the cycles of the universe are ringing the bell that’s reverberating through the very essence of our being.
Australian Aborigines call our reality, “the dreamtime”. According to their traditional lore, we are at the brink of awakening, like the plants waking up from a winter’s hibernation ready to bloom in the spring sunshine; only our winter (cycle) has been much longer.
The All, is the One. We are the sum parts of the One. While bodily we’re a product of this reality, we have all come from (and are still connected to) the One, and so hold memories of ‘home’ that draw us back.
Everything moves, evolution is a continuous unfolding, a circular path that traverses inter-dimensionally, collecting experiences.
The point of difference I believe is simply semantics. To illustrate this in my workshops, I use the analogy of the 3 blind men holding onto different parts of an elephant. Each seems to describe something different. In one context it could be said, yes, different parts: a foot, a trunk, a tail. But in another, they’re all parts of the one elephant. Neither is “wrong”, simply describing their own, unique perspectives.
Yes, the ultimate truth is ineffable viewed from this, material perspective. But I believe that is only because words are inadequate to describe it. The best any of us can do is be open-minded to other perspectives, lead healthy lives, feel deeply, tend towards humility, meditate… all as stepping stones leading home.

THEORY OF EVERYTHING.

smile is religion.
words are philosophies.
wisdom beyond words is ignorance that is blissfulness.
Has it ever occurred to You that this impulse that you feel might not be what you think it is? If the impulse is real, than why is it only real in your world?
What if your world isn’t real? It might just be an illusion in a mind entrapped by hallucinations.
